Youth Pastor with Family Ministry Responsibilities

 Duty Description: 

   The role of the Youth Pastor is to provide the oversight and direction for ministries to our children, youth and their families through teams of Godly men and women.   He will develop, equip, and empower his team to carry out the ministry as he provides spiritual and practical support for those who are serving our families.  He will provide leadership of the Youth Ministries at Calvary Baptist Church (CBC) by developing a relevant and dynamic ministry to youth. This person will lead students (Jr. and Sr. High School) to grow in their worship of God, their walk with Christ and their witness to the world. He will be the primary teacher of the Jr. and Sr. High students. He will seek to bring young people into groups of supportive relationships so that they are won to Christ, nurtured in their faith and trained to minister to others.  He will actively participate in Sunday Worship Service. 

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

* Meet regularly with Youth Ministry Team corporately and individually

* Maintain a database of our youth

* Administer budgets for youth and children's ministries.

* Coordinate activities of children, youth, family and AWANA ministries in terms of resources, teacher recruitment, training and scheduling of activities.

* Report to congregation at quarterly business meetings

* Actively participate in weekly staff meetings

* Write a brief report of youth ministry activities for the monthly newsletter

* Publicize upcoming events

* Provide guidance and support to the Children's Ministry Director.

 

Ministry Programming Responsibilities:

* Provide worship experiences that equip youth to become life-long worshipers of God both individually and corporately

* Provide ministry that assists CBC youth in witnessing to their friends

* Provide opportunities for youth to express their spiritual gifts in service and missions in our church and community

* Help students develop God's heart for the world through personal involvement in world missions

* Provide counseling and pastoral care for youth and their families

* Support parents in teaching their own children through encouragement, hands-on tools, marriage and family issue seminars, classes and workshops

* Promote the connection between the church and youth ministries with a visible presence of children and youth in church worship services and other church gatherings

* Oversee the selection of biblically sound curriculum for all children and youth and review their effectiveness

 

 Recruitment, Equipping and Training Responsibilities:

* Serve as the primary teacher for our youth and as a mentor teacher to others, developing a team of teachers to creatively teach God's Word.

* Equip Youth Teams (sub-teams) to effectively minister to students at each ministry level.

* Train, support and coach each Youth Ministry Team member so that they are affirmed, encouraged, and challenged spiritually and connected to the body at CBC

 

Personal Expectations:

* He will meet the qualifications of a Godly pastor as outlined by the apostle Paul in I Timothy 3, Titus 1, and be continuously striving toward living in accordance with Romans 12 and Galatians 5:22-23.

* He will work closely with other staff and maintain open communication with the senior pastor as his supervisor.  He will be accountable to the elders and is responsible to the congregation

 

Compensation and Benefits:

* Salary and benefits will be established by the board of deacons depending on education and experience
